Introduction to Connection Classes
📚 Explore the Exciting World of Middle School Connection Classes
At our middle school, students have the opportunity to engage in a variety of Connection classes designed to expand their skills, creativity, and interests beyond core academic subjects. These courses provide hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application. Whether students are developing their artistic talents, exploring new languages, strengthening leadership skills, or diving into technology and business concepts, our Connection classes offer something for everyone.
These diverse courses help students discover new passions, build essential life skills, and create a well-rounded educational experience. We encourage parents and students to explore these offerings and take advantage of the enriching opportunities available. Each class is designed to promote growth, creativity, and collaboration, preparing students for success both academically and personally.

2025-2026 Connections Preference Form
The 2025-2026 Connections Preference Form will be sent via Parent Square on March 3, 2025.
Need to know for current students in grades 6th and 7th:
- If your child is currently in Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Dance, and DLI Students, they will be enrolled in the same class for next year.
- Current 7th Grade Spanish Students: Your child will be enrolled in the second year of Spanish, as this is a two-year course.
- All preference forms must be submitted by March 7, 2025.
- If the form is not completed by this date, your child will be randomly assigned to available courses.
Rising 6th Graders:
More information will be available after your visit to our school on March 24, 2025.
Band (Yearlong)

Band is available to all students enrolled at Bay Creek Middle School. Our middle school band class is an exciting opportunity for students to learn and perform music while building teamwork and confidence. Whether they’re beginners or have prior experience, students develop their musical skills by learning to play instruments such as woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Through practice, rehearsals, and performances, they improve their technique, music reading, and collaboration as part of an ensemble. Band is a fun and rewarding way for students to express themselves, develop discipline, and be part of a musical community that brings energy and creativity to the school! The band presents a winter and spring concert to display what we have learned throughout the year. Come join us!
Chorus (Yearlong)

Chorus is available to students are enrolled at Bay Creek Middle School. Our middle school chorus class is a fun and engaging way for students to develop their singing skills and discover the joy of making music together! Students learn proper vocal techniques, music reading, and harmonization while exploring a variety of musical styles. Through rehearsals and performances, they build confidence, teamwork, and stage presence in a supportive environment. Whether they’re experienced singers or just starting out, chorus encourages creativity, self-expression, and a love for music that lasts a lifetime! The chorus presents a winter and a spring concert to display what we have learned throughout the year. Come join us!
Computer Science

Our middle school computer science course introduces students to the fundamentals of how computers work and the basics of programming. Using visual coding platforms like Scratch, students develop problem-solving and computational thinking skills through hands-on activities. They also explore various applications of technology, including web design, animation, and robotics. Throughout the course, creativity and real-world connections are emphasized through engaging projects that make learning both fun and meaningful.

Our middle school dance class is a fun and energetic way for students to express themselves through movement! Students explore various dance styles, including jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and contemporary, while building strength, coordination, and flexibility. Through choreography, rhythm exercises, and creative movement activities, they develop confidence, teamwork, and an appreciation for the art of dance. Whether they’re beginners or experienced dancers, this class encourages creativity and self-expression in a supportive and exciting environment!
Dual Language Immersion Program (Yearlong)

Course Overview:
The DLI French Program at Bay Creek Middle is based on a continuation model in which students pivot out of a “content-only” instruction toward a balanced, precision driven approach to develop advanced language proficiency in reading, writing, conversational abilities in French. The goal is to prepare the students for the next stage of their language development, whether this is pursuing Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) studies, entering a dual-enrollment program at the college level, or using their language skills in the workplace. The DLI journey consists of 3 (required) year-long Advanced Language and Literacy/ High School Level 3 courses as well 2 semester-based Culture & History- Media/Literacy courses

Our middle school engineering course introduces students to the exciting world of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—through hands-on, project-based learning. ESOL (Yearlong)

Our middle school ESOL class supports students in building their English language skills in a welcoming and encouraging environment. Health

Our middle school health class helps students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices for life. Through interactive discussions and activities, students learn about physical wellness, nutrition, mental health, personal hygiene, and the importance of healthy relationships. They also explore topics like stress management, decision-making, and self-care to build confidence in taking care of their overall well-being. This class encourages students to develop lifelong habits that support a happy, healthy lifestyle in a positive and supportive environment!
Junior Leadership Corps (Yearlong)

🎖️🫡🤝Course Overview:
The Junior Leadership Corps program is an optional leadership program for middle school students. The program is designed to teach leadership concepts that will enhance the student’s ability to interact with other students, school faculty and individuals within the local community. The program is a connections course available to all students enrolled at Bay Creek Middle School.
Cadets are provided with a formal blue uniform shirt; students will be provided any rank, uniform cords, and arc pins. All uniform items issued to a student during the course must be turned in at the conclusion or at withdrawal/removal from school or the Junior Leadership Corps. Any items that are lost or damaged will be the responsibility of the student and parent/guardian to replace.
Leadership lab and physical training are integral components of the Junior Leadership Corps. All Cadets are expected to participate in prescribed activities. Appropriate provisions for Cadets with disabilities will be made. JLC extracurricular activities include Drill Team (spring) and Raider Team (fall). These teams compete against other JLC programs around the county.

Our middle school marketing class introduces students to the exciting world of business, branding, and entrepreneurship! This class encourages creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, helping students build a strong foundation for future opportunities in the world of business and marketing!
Carnegie Unit (High School Credit) Marketing Principles course for eligible 8th-grade students!
We are excited to offer a Carnegie Unit (High School Credit) Marketing Principles course for eligible 8th-grade students! This class follows a high school-level curriculum and provides students with a strong foundation in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship—key skills that can benefit them in high school, college, and future careers.
Benefits of Taking Marketing Principles:

Peer Leadership (Yearlong)

Our middle school peer leadership class is offered to 7th and 8th grade student to become positive role models and leaders in their school community. Physical Education

Spanish (Semester and Yearlong)
