Chromebook Device Care Checklist
Handle with Care
Use two hands when carrying; do not grab the device by the screen.
No Food Zone
Keep food, drinks, or other liquids away from the device.
Hard Surface Only
Keep devices on a hard, solid surface (table/desk) and place them gently.
Keep it Home
Keep the device within the student's residence, away from trips or travel destinations.
Check Before Closing
Ensure nothing is between the screen and the keyboard when closing.
Secure Storage
Store the device in a clean bag when not in use.
Charging & Charger Safety
Trip Hazard Prevention
Plug the device into a nearby outlet so no one will trip over the cord.
Secure Charger Storage
When not charging the laptop, keep the charger stored securely.
School Readiness
The Chromebook must be brought to school fully charged each day.

Key Policies & Fees
GCPS Acceptable Use Policy (AUP): Essential review link for responsible use of electronic media.
Damaged/Lost Device Fees: Incidents of damage or loss do not reset each school year.

Family Responsibility
The family is responsible for monitoring device use (against the Student Conduct Behavior Code) and ensuring the device is returned in good condition.

GCPS provides content filtering, but parent/guardian monitoring of student internet use is still required.

1. Lost Device Protocol
- Student notifies Homeroom teacher.
- Teacher submits a tech ticket.
- If not found in 24 hours, parent is notified (by Grade Level Clerk).
- New device picked up from the Student Tech Support Room (sessions: 9:30 am or 3:00 pm).
2. Forgot Device at Home
- Student notifies Homeroom teacher.
- Teacher arranges student to call parent.
- Parent/Guardian drops off device with Front Desk Receptionist.
- Best Practice: Recover forgotten Chromebooks as early as possible.
3. Parent Cannot Drop Off Device
- Student notifies the teacher upon returning.
- NOTE: Temporary checkouts are NOT available.
- Grade Level Administrator is notified of a pattern of device absence.
4. Left Device on School Bus
- Student notifies Homeroom teacher.
- Teacher submits a tech ticket.
- If not found in 24 hours, parent is notified and student receives new device.
- If found, teacher leaves it with the Front Desk receptionist.

RETURN CHECKLIST (All Items MUST Be Returned)
Chromebook Device, Chromebook Sleeve, and Charger.
In-Year Withdrawal:
Students may turn in the Chromebook to one of their Team Teachers or leave it with the Front Desk Receptionist.
Summer Withdrawal/Transfer:
If the student is withdrawn during the summer (transferring to a new school), the device must be returned to Bay Creek Middle School’s Front Desk Receptionist.
Drop-off & Questions:
Devices can be dropped off during school hours. Contact your grade-level Assistant Principal for any questions.
Crucial Step:
Please ensure the student’s name is clearly marked on the device or bag when dropping it off at the school.
