Away for the Day Expectations
Dear Bay Creek Families,
At Bay Creek Middle School, we are Moving Forward in Excellence for each and every student!
As part of our ongoing mission to provide your children with more learning per class and in accordance with Georgia’s new Distraction-Free Education Act (HB 340), we will continue to participate in the Away for the Day initiative by removing the distraction of personal electronic devices (PEDs)from our campus. It will be the expectation that cell phones, smart watches, smart glasses, earbuds, and headphones are powered off and put away while students are on our campus.
Cell phones must be powered off, out of sight, and secured in a bookbag or locker.
Please review the following details regarding our current Student Electronic Device Policy posted below along with the Electronic Device Consequences Matrix located on the middle tab above.

To provide every student with the best opportunity to learn, all personal electronic devices must remain completely out of sight during the entire school day.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- DEVICES ARE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS
- Students may bring personal electronic devices to school.
- AWAY FOR THE DAY
- Devices must remain powered off and stored in a backpack or locker from the first bell until dismissal.
- ZERO USE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
- Students may not use, view, wear, or operate personal electronic devices at any time during the instructional day.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PARENTS:
Starting with the 2nd offense, confiscated devices will not be returned to students and must be picked up in person by a parent or legal guardian at the front office.
