Away for the Day Expectations
Dear Bay Creek Families,
At Bay Creek Middle School, we cause learning for each and every student!
As part of our ongoing mission to provide your children with more learning per class than at any other school, we are participating in the Away for the Day initiative and removing the distraction of cell phones from our campus. It will be the expectation that cell phones are powered off and put away while students are on our campus. Smartwatches should be used for telling time only. Additionally, Bluetooth and wireless headphones or earbuds are not permitted.
Cell phones must be powered off, out of sight, and secured in a bookbag or other location. Smartwatches should be used for telling time only. Additionally, Bluetooth and wireless headphones or earbuds are not permitted. Wired headphones are allowed at the express direction of the teacher and for curricular purposes only.
The first time the phone or wireless earbuds or headphones are visible, it will be collected, the parent will be contacted, and the student may pick up the item(s) from the grade level office at the end of the school day. Subsequent cell phone/ earbud/headphone/Smartwatch infractions will result in documented administrative consequences and require parent pick up of the item(s). The school will not be liable for lost or stolen cell phones or accessories.
Wireless Earbuds
Reminder about Wireless Earbuds or Headphones
Students who bring wireless earbuds or headphones to school will be confiscated with their connected device (such as a phone, tablet, or watch). Students have been made fully aware of this expectation, as all grade-level assistant principals have reviewed the expectations with them during the return from winter break. Wireless ear buds or headphones can have a bluetooth connection to phones or even the assessment. Test examiners should ensure that students are not hiding ear buds behind hair or hoodies.
